For your toddler, every day brings new discoveries and opportunities to explore the world around him. Despite your toddler’s seeming independence, he still longs for the safety and security of parental closeness. During this time, your toddler still relishes the comfort of the familiar while also seeking the challenge of something new.

A class for you and your toddler, Kindermusik Our Time encourages her to be creative, to initiate her own ideas and to respond in her own ways, while your active participation gives her the security she needs. Through class, you’ll uncover an engaging musical world while building your child’s confidence, self-control and communications skills. Each class will include: instrument exploration and ensemble skill development, singing and vocal play, story time and early literacy, as well as dance and movement activities which all focus on introducing musical awareness.

What to Expect

Instrument exploration and ensemble skill development. Your child will explore the physical characteristics and sounds of age-appropriate instruments which will eventually lead her to discover her potential for beat, rhythm, and melodic ensemble playing.

Vocal play. Through vocal play, toddlers learn to form vowels and consonants, say words and phrases, and imitate rhythm and vocal inflection. In Kindermusik Our Time, vocal play is presented within the context of songs, chants, and activities done in class.

Exploration Time. Your child will love discovering specially designed instruments, textures, sounds and movements.

Story time and early literacy. Listening to stories enhances language and speech development and fosters awareness of sounds, teaches use of language, and sends the message that words and symbols have meaning. The same experiences that help your child learn to read a book also help her learn to read music.

Movement Activities. Each class provides various opportunities for movement such as synchronised movement, group dances and circle games, and even expressive movement.

Together Time. Kindermusik is the essence of quality time, allowing you to make the most of the fleeting toddler years and giving you the time and the tools to make music and memories together in class and at home.

Expert advice. Ms. Becca explains how our musically based activities enhance your child’s complete development.

Read stories about ways to get around. Shiny Dinah tells the story of a train, and Giddy-Up! has a horse, speedboat, racecar, and more to help you get where you want to go.

Home Materials: Double CD featuring songs from class; two interactive story books—Shiny Dinah and Giddy-Up! to develop early literacy skills; Home Activity Book, and two harmonicas (one for baby and one for parent), all conveniently packaged in the child’s train carry box.

Away We Go Monthly Mini Themes:
Part 1

  • Lessons 1-5: Choo-Choo with You: Oh, we are a traveling bunch now! We take the train, drive the car, bounce, clap, and play! Choo-chooin’ fast and slow, we find new ways to experience tempo in music and poetry. And before we head for home, we steam into the station and stop for a snuggle!
  • Lessons 6-10: Hop On, Let’s Go! We giddy-UP horsey and then head DOWNtown on the bus. We dance together in a circle and all fall down! So much fun together wondering about ways to move and sing waaa-ay up high and waaa-ay down low.

Part 2

  • Lessons 11-15: Round and Round Together: Wagons and airplanes, boats and wheels, and instrument play and circle dances – we’re going round and round together laughing and discovering up and down, smooth and bumpy, and all the magic ways to learn while having fun.
  • Lessons 16-20: Two in a Boat: We’re both parents and adventure buddies for our children as we float down the river or traverse bumpy rapids in boats we imagine for ourselves. We explore the smoothness of legato and the bumpiness of staccato. Hang on for a fun ride while we make music together!
